Two designers and their studios blend skills and artistry to create a simple, everyday piece with the purpose of mixing things up, design edition.
The result from this collaboration with Cuchara Studio is MEIK. A stainless steel salad serving set and walnut-wood tray, designed to stun at the table.

AMERICAN DREAM

_ 2020 _
Iker Ortiz was approached by multidisciplinary artist Alonso Cartú, after one of his jewelry pieces -a remarkable design from 2019- caught the latter’s eye and inspiration.
The collaboration sprung two complementing products that enhanced Iker’s original idea playing with the mirroring qualities of steel, into the realms of art by infusing it with Cartú’s work.
A reimagined jewelry piece as portable art. A spectacular art piece magnifying the concept into large-scale wall sculptures. A portrait of the transformation that immigrants experience in their pursuit of the American Dream.

Mexico City’s most important and iconic entertainment center finally saw the opening of it’s own world-class store in 2019. Iker Ortiz was thrilled to be one of the designers whose pieces could be found at this new hotspot.
He designed exclusively for the occasion, a collection inspired by the auditorium’s renowned architecture, the perfect memento of all visitors’ experience at the landmark venue.

LIGHT AESTHETICS

With a novel proposal, Iker Ortiz expands its universe beyond jewelry, aiming to transfer its vision, concept and quality to the world of objects.
In this collaboration with architect Mauricio Nava, metal and wood bond to create pieces that, by means of design, heighten the aesthetics of our everyday relation to light.

_ 2018 _
A project created by Shelf, inviting thirteen artists and designers from diverse fields to present an object that beyond being perfectly useful, inspires us to question our own relationship with the afterlife.
Iker Ortiz presents this piece drawing inspiration from three elements, powerful symbols of the infinite, as the human soul is. Designed in white corian and brass, it is destined to contain the resulting ashes from a cremation.

Architect-turned-fashion designer Vanessa Guckel approached Iker Ortiz, proposing a collaboration in order to create the first line of jewelry for her brand, CIHUAH. Unique and striking, the result was SUBLIMATION.
Using the original titanium pieces that she had in her back for many years, Iker conceived a groundbreaking design proposition transforming what were once orthopedic implants into an exceptional jewelry collection, challenging the standards of beauty.

3D PRINTED SERIES

Iker Ortiz joins industrial designer Ricardo Casas in this collaboration for Shelf, in which a series of jewelry pieces are created as a result of the unlikely encounter of the past with the future.
Design and production from the latest 3D printing technology and at the same time, irreplaceable hand-craftsmanship from the experienced goldsmith, delivering an innovative collection that revolutionizes and marvels.
